Metán lies in the province of Salta, in the north of Argentina. It is a town with its own rhythm: warm, rural, with neighbourhoods where poverty and family ties lie close together. From Metán it is not far to villages at lower elevation, nor to the high plateau and mountain villages toward the Andes.
In this region live people of different backgrounds, including Wichi communities. There are churches, but not everywhere. Some places are seldom visited. Distances, roads and language make the work slow. That is precisely why we remain here: not because it is easy, but because it is needed.
Zera Metan is not a travelling project that comes for a week and then leaves. Mariano and Mónica live in Metán. The school, the congregations and the outreaches set out from that fixed place. Those who come to the school get to know the region on foot, not only from a map.
