Zera is Hebrew for seed: the new generation.
In Scripture, seed stands for offspring, for what comes after us, and for what is placed in the ground in faith. The mission school rests on Psalm 22:31:
“A seed shall serve Him;” The name states what we aim for. Not only help in the present, but a generation that serves God — in Metán, in the mountains, to the ends of the earth. Seed is small. The work often is as well: a classroom, a children’s club, a village visit, a student who goes into the field for the first time. None of these things is impressive beside large organisations. It is, however, obedience in the place where God has set us. The promise does not lie in the size of the foundation, nor in visibility or budget. The promise lies in what God does with seed. He causes what has been sown in faith to grow: a child who discovers that he or she is precious in His eyes; a student who learns to serve and later takes others along. That is why we do not measure the work first of all by what can be seen. We sow. We remain. We train. The harvest belongs to the Lord.
